PRETTY IN PINK

Written by Meryl Siegman. Photography by Brett Hufziger. Design and Decor Magazine. Spring 2024. (…)

“Don’t be fooled when you pass the driveway to this house overlooking Biscayne Bay in South Florida. From the street, the home appears quite unassuming, resembling a modern bungalow at first glance. In fact, there was a modest single-story cottage on the property when the current owners purchased it 10 years ago. But step inside today, and the sheer beauty and grandeur of this three-story, 6,000-square-foot home with stunning panoramic views will take your breath away…”.

PALATIAL SPLENDOR

Written by Al Alschuler. Photography by Carlos Domenech. Florida Architecture 63rd Edition. January 1998. (…)

“Intent upon erecting a large enough house to harbor their entire family, as well as accumulated antiques, Pedro and Maritza Garcia-Carrillo scrutinized several potential sites for the palatial home of their dreams. Their former house had become too small for their prized possessions; architecturally, it was considered “too contemporary” and, thus, inappropriate for it’s traditional interior furnishings.
One providential visit in 1992 to Tahiti Beach, a coastal enclave southeast…”.

FAMILIAL GRANDEUR

Written by Jo Werne. Photography by Troy Campbell. Florida Architecture 65th Edition. January 2000. (…)

“The couple knew exactly what they wanted in a new home. Lots of bedrooms to accommodate their six daughters, a comfortable, functional environment and the highest quality materials and craftsmanship available. And when they engaged Ramon Pacheco to design the house, it was a genial collaboration that pleased all involved during the two-years it took to complete the project.
“I’m very picky,” said the wife who studied architecture at the University of Miami for one year before marriage and babies commanded her full attention. “When we decided to build a home, I drove around town and looked at houses I liked. They happened to be Pacheco’s. Then we finally met him at Emilio Estefan’s 40th birthday party and learned that he had also designed Emilio and Gloria’s home.”….

SCULPTURED GEOMETRY ON GOLDEN BEACH

Written by Roberto Klein. Photography by George Cott. Florida Architecture 67th Edition. January 2002. (…)

“Few experiences are more soul satisfying than living in an oceanfront home in South Florida. Rippling water blanketed in morning gold is a gift to the eyes while a warm ocean breeze from an open window adds a soft caress. Such every day pleasures exemplify the joy of oceanfront living.
It was pleasures like these that motivated Peruvian-born Rossana and Alberto Franco to purchase an oceanfront site on Golden Beach. A vacation in the exclusive town had convinced them that it was the right place to build a home and raise their children.”.

PALLADIAN-INSPIRED PERFECTION

Written by Roberta Klein. Photography by George Cott. Florida Architecture 69th Edition. January 2004. (…)

“If the great 16th century architect, Andrea Palladio, were alive today, he would definitely approve of the Gomberg house. Although the home is vintage 2003, it bears the principles of Palladio’s Classicism: “proportions, symmetry, and the image of the temple front”.
“We used the Palladian concept in a minimalistic, contemporary way,” explains Ramon Pacheco, architect of the bayfront Coconut Grove home. His description is on the money. Yet this is a home that expresses its character with lustrous Australian Jara wood, earthy limestone, rare Jerusalem stone, abundant millwork and rich detailing. Ten-feet-high ceilings introduce a welcome human scale. Comfort is evident in every room..

ELEGANT COMFORT

Written by Jo Werne. Photography by George Cott. Florida Architecture 72nd Edition. May 2007. (…)

“The homeowners wanted an elegant, understated look for their new home but, above all, it had to be comfortable. Pairing elegant and comfortable in the same sentence may seem contradictory, but not with a design team like architect Ramon Pacheco and interior designer Rosana Fleming.
With their skill and talent, a large, elegant home took shape on a waterfront lot in Coral Gables. The house has the flair of an Italian villa and yet offers a welcoming interior for the homeowners and their three children.”.

“A realtor had shown them several houses—almost to the point of exhaustion—in one day. Then, as dusk approached, Juan and Diana Puig were shown a house in Coral Gables that was just a few months away from completion.
They fell in love with it and decided on the spot it would suit them and their two young daughters very well—all 14,000 square feet of it.
‘As big as it is, it’s a warm house,’ Juan Puig, a real estate developer, says. ‘Despite its size, it is very user-friendly.’”.

VISIONS OF SPAIN

Written by Peter Lioubin. Photography by George Cott. Florida Architecture 76th Edition. May 2014. (…)

Cordoba, Spain’s storied city of palaces and Moorish mosques, is an architectural treasure. Its iconic courtyards, arched loggias, tiled fountains and beflowered patios have influenced the aesthetic of several generations of architects, particularly in South Florida.

For one Miami couple, the impact of Cordoba was so profound that they decided to pattern their home on Key Biscayne after….

A PERFECT FIT

Written by D. J. Niko. Photography by George Cott. Florida Architecture 78th Edition. May 2014. (…)

One of the joys of home is being surrounded by meaningful heirlooms and objects of sentimental value. But when those heirlooms have been collected and handed down over several generations of two families, living with them becomes a practical challenge.
Unless, of course, one plans ahead. For a couple who have inherited and amassed enormous collections of art and antiques, displaying family heirlooms has always been of paramount importance. .

TRIPLE PLAY

Written by Elisa Chemayne Agostinho. Photography by George Cott. Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine. May 2014. (…)

THEY SAY PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF, AND IN THE CASE OF ONE FAMILY’S SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT HOME, THEY WERE RIGHT.
“We looked for months,” recalls Carla, an energetic mother of three. “But of all the houses we saw, we couldn’t find one that fit.” Discouraged yet determined, she and her husband Ricardo, Mexican expats relocating to the area in order to be closer to family that had settled nearby, continued the hunt. Until the day they went to see just one more house, a Tuscan-style structure with classical details located in the idyllic waterfront community of Gables Estates, an exclusive enclave in Coral Gables..

FAMILIAR TERRITORY

Written by Jesse Bratter. Photography by George Cott. Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine. May 2014. (…)

The property the couple eventually acquired was situated on a waterway leading into Biscayne Bay, and, before McCarthy could work her magic, architectural design plans needed to get underway. She worked with Miami-based architect Ramon Pacheco, of Ramon Pacheco & Associates, Architect and Planner, from the onset to give the house functionality and finesse. Pacheco designed a classical Mediterranean house that operates in several axes, the main one running from the front entrance to the rear exterior, overlooking the waterway. “The goal was to accommodate the owners’ request for as many rooms as possible facing the water,” Pacheco says, “and to make the house work with all the spaces they wanted.” The L-shaped house is designed so that the owners can ….
